The Government decided to include the Azret Sultan Museum-Reserve on the list of sites placed under state protection taking into account its significance and historical and cultural value and to ensure its preservation.
The Mausoleum was built in honor of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, an outstanding Turkic poet and founder of the first Turkic Sufi order, the Yasawiyya, in Turkistan. It consists of eight parts around the central, largest hall in the complex known as Kazandyk.
The mausoleum was built between 1385 and 1405.
