Kazakhstan’s export potential is estimated at 12 million tons, of which 7-7.5 million tons fall on wheat, 1.3-1.4 million tons account for barley, and 300,000 tons for corn
He said Kazakhstan will further export wheat to Central Asia and Afghanistan up to 4.2 million tons. Last year Kazakhstan exported 1,431,000 tons of grain to China, 5.5% up. Wheat exports to China reached 538,800 tons in 2023 that is 15 times more compared to the previous year suggesting a possibility to boost exports to China and Asian countries up to 1.6 million tons of wheat.
The vice minister said Kazakhstan is interested in entering the markets of EU countries such as Italy, Latvia, Spain, and others.
The country’s export potential to Türkiye and Middle East countries stands at 1 million tons. He stressed the need to restore supplies to Iran.
Torebayev added the country will promote Kazakhstan’s wheat brand in Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, and Malaysia where wheat imports are expected to rise.
