In 2025, the production of passenger cars is initiated at the Stadler Kazakhstan plant, with an initial capacity of 100 units per year
During the Government’s meeting, Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kanat SHARLAPAEV, highlighted that a production of passenger cars at the plant Stadler Kazakhstan is scheduled to commence next year with a capacity of 100 units per year, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to the minister, the railway engineering industry has established production of locomotives using Wabtec and Alstom companies’ technology, as well as technologies of Kazakhstan Carriage Company and ZIKSTO are used for freight and passenger cars.
“As of today, the enterprises of the sector have produced goods worth 423 billion tenge, an increase of 1.5 times. According to the results of the year, we set the task to ensure the growth of production of freight cars 4fold - up to 2 000 units (in 2023 - 536 units), passenger cars up to 122 units (in 2023 - 106 units) and locomotives up to 128 units (in 2023 - 123 units),” Kanat Sharlapaev noted.
The minister indicated that railway engineering is characterized by significant potential for further development. He noted that the current total fleet of rolling stock is approximately 139,000 units, with an average depreciation rate of 55%. In light of these figures, new projects are to be launched.
“In 2025, the production of passenger cars is initiated at the Stadler Kazakhstan plant, with an initial capacity of 100 units per year. In the current year, TexolTrans enterprise in the Atyrau region has initiated the implementation of a project for the production of freight cars and tanks with a projected capacity of 6,000 units per year. Semipalatinsk Machine-Building Plant JSC in the East Kazakhstan region is striving to establish a production capacity of 600 units per year for gondola cars,” the minister added.
Furthermore, a project is currently being implemented with the objective of developing a bandage complex, to be manufactured by Railcast Systems in the Pavlodar region, specifically in the vicinity of Ekibastuz. The projected launch date for this initiative is 2025-2026. Additionally, the plan is to establish a spring production plant in the Kostanay region by the end of this year.
On top of that, Vostokmashzavod machine-building plant, located in Oskemen, intends to complete the modernization of shop No. 10 by 2025, thereby facilitating the substitution of imported medium and large car casting.
Previously, it was reported that the machine building industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan has produced a total of 3 trillion tenge since the beginning of the year.
