Three RES projects are scheduled for implementation in the forthcoming years
A total of 25 renewable energy sources (RES) facilities will be operational in Zhambyl region with a total capacity of 2.5 GW by 2028, Kazinform cites the region’s press service.
Currently, there are 22 RES facilities with a combined capacity of 551.3 MW. This includes six hydroelectric power plants (24.4 MW), ten wind power plants (275.6 MW), and six solar power plants (251.2 MW). Last year's electricity production reached 4,348.6 million kWh, and this year's target is 560.8 million kWh. The region offers promising opportunities for RES development. All conditions are in place for the construction of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power plants. The regional akimat is actively promoting investment projects in this area.
The press service further elaborated that three RES projects are scheduled for implementation in the forthcoming years. These include a 1 GW wind power plant developed by Total Eren Company in the Moiynkum district, a 500 MW wind power plant constructed by Masdar Company (UAE) in the Sarysu and Talas districts, and a 500 MW wind power plant developed by China Power International Development Limited.
It is noteworthy that the Zhambyl region has the highest capacity for RES in the country and is second only to the Almaty region in terms of the number of such facilities.
