The Kazakh platform "Accessible Kazakhstan" is considered the first global digital public good in Central Asia
A special website displays the accessibility of various public facilities for people with limited mobility and persons with special needs. A unique digital project, which has already been highly rated by users from all over the country, was launched thanks to the implementation of a joint start-up program of the UN Children's Fund - UNICEF and the Astana Hub digital technopark. The results were summed up today in the capital, where another project for the development of inclusive education was also presented.
“We started this work by conducting a study on the needs of digital public goods in Kazakhstan in a number of priority areas, such as digital health, education, early child development, employability skills and so on. Then, with the participation of international and local experts, we began developing a large online course in the field of inclusion and digital skills. This course was held completely online. A pool of trainers was prepared,” said Raushan Ibrasheva, UNICEF Innovation Officer.
One of them was Bolat Myrzakulov. 10 percent of trained teachers in the inclusive education development project were under his mentorship. The lessons were held on the okoo.kz platform. Teachers studied modern approaches to working with children using advanced digital tools.
“Astana Hub provided all the technical support. They gathered and trained us, and developed a program. During the period of working in this project, we trained more than 12,000 teachers in the regions of Kazakhstan. They learned modern educational processes, as well as skills such as gamification, case study method and group work. These are modern methodological developments that will make the learning process more interesting,” added Bolat Myrzakulov, a coach of an inclusive education project.
