Kazakhstan attracted 327 billion tenge in investments in the country’s energy sector in 2024
A 1 GW wind farm will be built in Rudnyi town, governor of Kostanay region Kumar AKSAKALOV told a briefing at the central communications service. Kazinform News Agency reports.
He said the region made great strides in developing renewable energy sources. The capacity of commissioned renewable energy sources in the region almost doubled from 50 MW in 2022 to 98 MW in 2024 thanks to the construction of windmills.
As of now the region's electricity consumption (0.45 GW) four times surpasses its generation (0.12 GW). It plans in the future to build new wind farms, and solar and gas engine generator plants. The project in Rudnyi will become a genuine breakthrough as the 1GW wind power plant will be put onstream there. it will help increase electricity generation by nine times from 1.12 to 1.12 GW and meet fully the region’s demand.
