Aktobe, Kostanay, Karaganda, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Ulytau and Abai regions are at most risk of seasonal flooding
Warm temperatures and heavy precipitation expected to batter Kazakhstan this March and April will contribute to raising the flood hazards in several regions, Kazinform News Agency quotes Kazakh Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry Yerlan NYSSANBAYEV as saying.
The Minister stressed that March and April this year will be warmer than average and wetter, and increase the likelihood of flood risks. He said Aktobe, Kostanay, Karaganda, Akmola, North Kazakhstan, East Kazakhstan, Ulytau and Abai regions are at most risk of seasonal flooding.
Almaty, Zhetysu, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions are at average flood risk, while Pavlodar, Mangistau, Turkistan and Kyzylorda regions are at low risk.
