"This is my first time racing the Trofeo Matteotti. Although I have known these roads before during the Giro d’Abruzzo, the route and difficulty of today’s race were quite different. I would like to mention Yevgeniy Fedorov, who did a great job today, closing down attacks and controlling the breakaways. Towards the end of the day, I launched several attacks, which helped to reduce the group. In the end, we were only about 10 riders at the finish, where I was third in the sprint. I’m a bit disappointed that I couldn’t secure the victory, but overall, it’s a good way to wrap up the first block of the autumn classics. I’m glad to be regaining my form after the Tour de France and ahead of the final key races of the season. I’m sure there will be more chances to bring a beautiful victory to the team”, said Alexey Lutsenko.
