The Olympism 365 Commission represents a strategic initiative of the IOC with the objective of reinforcing the role of sport and Olympic values within the context of contemporary society. Its principal aim is to utilize the medium of sport as a means of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The commission’s objective is to devise long-term strategies that facilitate the role of sport in addressing key aspects of sustainable development, including health, education, gender equality and inclusion. The commission's work also aims to reinforce partnerships in order to develop grassroots sport and promote Olympic values.
“It is crucial for Kazakhstan to be involved in such global initiatives as Olympism 365. This presents a valuable opportunity to integrate sport into the solution of social and economic problems, as well as to promote Olympic values in our country," said Gennady Golovkin.
At the meeting, the IOC President Thomas Bach introduced Gennady Golovkin to his commission’s colleagues and extended his best wishes for success in his work.
It is worth noting that participation in Olympism 365 provides a number of unique opportunities. These include attracting the world's best practices for the development of accessible and inclusive sport in Kazakhstan, using sport as a tool to promote social cohesion, health and equality, participating in the IOC projects aimed at achieving the SDGs, and strengthening positions on the global sporting arena.
