The law “On pasture land” was amended last year
Majilis Committee for Agrarian Issues has presented today a draft law on soil conservation, Kazinform News Agency reports.
According to Deputy Nurzhan ASHIMBETOV, 29.9 million hectares of land in Kazakhstan have been degraded to date.
Citing the data from the State Institute for Land Survey Work of the Ministry of Agriculture, the deputy said that potential fertility of soil decreased by 17%, while the area of saline soil on irrigated land expanded by 35-37%. As a result, agricultural yield reduced.
“The law “On pasture land” was amended last year. It is aimed at prevention of pasture land degradation, fundamental and surface-level improvement of their condition, which are directly linked to the issues of land protection and green economy principles. However, the level of cropland degradation and decrease of humus gain irreparable pace,” the Majilisman said.
